Omschrijving

This book introduces schema-focused working methods for arts and body-based therapies, offering therapists practice-based tools to help their clients strengthen healthy patterns, self-management, and well-being on their path to recovery.

“The theory underlying schema therapy offers a natural framework to understand arts and body-based therapies, and helps to apply these therapies to complex problems. This book offers a comprehensive overview of specific techniques for the different arts and body-based therapies as they can be used in the context of schema therapy. A must read for those that want to apply these techniques in a schema therapy program.”

Prof. Dr Arnoud Arntz, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Programme Group Clinical Psychology, University of Amsterdam

"This book presents a cogent and well-structured theoretical framework and practical guide, constituting a valuable handbook for educators and creative therapists alike. Particularly noteworthy are the unique insights it offers into engaging individuals with schema therapy through the lens of positive psychology. If you are engaged in the realm of creative arts therapies and have yet to read this book, I strongly encourage you to do so. Within its pages, you will encounter a compelling argument for exploring the advantages of utlising arts therapies, presenting powerful, playful, and poetic methods for fostering transformative and meaningful change."

Prof. Dr Dominik Havsteen-Franklin, consultant in arts psychotherapies, professor of practice, Brunel University, London

“Everyone will benefit from this practical guide to schema-focused working methods for arts and body-based therapies. Instructors will value the theoretical foundation grounded in expert and evidence-based information; practitioners will appreciate original intervention ideas; and students will benefit from both. Dr. Suzanne Haeyen has integrated her vast knowledge and that of other professionals into a comprehensive and accessible resource for anyone interested in a positive and growth-enhancing approach to expressive arts therapies.”

Lisa D. Hinz, PhD, ATR-BC author, Expressive Therapies Continuum: A Framework for Using Art in Therapy

Suzanne Haeyen is professor of the research group Arts and Body-Based Therapies in Health Care at HAN University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands. She is content coordinator for the master's program and art therapist at an expert center for personality problems. She has written several publications about arts therapies in personality disorders and has contributed to national multidisciplinary guidelines for treatment of personality disorders.
