Omschrijving

Twelve specialists examine the dissemination of Greek studies and its cultural impact in various areas of early modern Europe from the fifteenth to the early sixteenth century

“For anyone interested in the teaching of Greek in Renaissance Italy, this volume offers a great deal of good new scholarship.” - Marco Barbero, in: Medioevo greco 18 (2018)

Federica Ciccolella (Ph.D. Turin, 1991 and Columbia University, 2004) is Professor of Classics at Texas A&M University. She has published on Byzantine poetry (Cinque poeti bizantini, Alessandria 2000) and the study of Greek in the Renaissance (Donati Graeci: Learning Greek in the Renaissance, Leiden 2008). Luigi Silvano (Ph.D. Turin, 2005) is Assistant Professor of Byzantine Studies at the University of Turin. His research focuses on the reception of classical literatures in the Renaissance (Angelo Poliziano, Appunti per un corso sull’Odissea, Alessandria 2010) as well as various aspects of Byzantine culture.
