Omschrijving
Photographs frame the narrative of a painful journey from Thessaloniki to Auschwitz: the loss of Renée Revah’s family in the concentration camp. She promises her grandfather, the sole family member to avoid this fate, that ‘Tehom’ (biblical Hebrew for ‘abyss’) will bring him to the scene of the crime, which he had not found the strength to visit.
Renée Revah, photographer, was born in 1978 in Athens, Greece, and lives in South Attica. She studied to be an actress and at the same time attended stage lighting and drawing lessons that ultimately guided her to photography. Her admiration for theatre has influenced her approach to photography, resulting in a tendency to direct images and to perceive the world around us as part of a performance on stage.
