Elske Sri Utami de Vries was born in Indonesia and grew up in the Netherlands. After studying Languages and Cultures of Southeast Asia in Leiden, she went to Bangkok to learn Thai. She liked Thailand, as well as other countries in the region. She has worked for a travel company in Thailand and Indonesia and has been a tour leader in Southeast Asia for many years. After almost 15 years, she is now back in the Netherlands to be closer to her family, but Thailand is still her second home. She is therefore in the region as often as possible to get inspiration for her next project. Not only does she write all the texts, but she also takes all photos (almost all of them) herself and all the illustrations are her own.
