He is guest lecturer on how to read and write humor at Bellevue Community College and guest speaker on writing humor for the Sinclair Lewis Foundation. He has defended raucous, transgressive humor in food writing as a featured speaker at the annual meeting of the International Association of Culinary Professionals at the Greenbrier where he stowed extra helpings of pork bellies from the final banquet in his carry on luggage going home.
